Happy first day of Spring! Who else is longing for sunshine, blue skies and some heat? It certainly has been a long, tough winter – with no sign of ending any time soon. With the festivities of Christmas a distant memory and being worn down by many weeks of wind chills and snowstorms, it’s no wonder I’m struggling to cope with the general lameness of the forecast. Luckily work has been super busy, so I haven’t had much time for moping.
So, how do we beat The Spring Blues??? I think this selection of photographs from Gray Malin’s À la Plage, À la Piscine collections will do the trick. The photographs are taken around the world and shot from a doorless helicopter. Malin describes them as “a visual celebration of color, light, shape – and summer bliss”. Just looking at them makes me joyful and hopeful that, not too long from now, I’ll have my own bright sun umbrella stuck in the sand.
I simply could not showcase Gray Malin’s work without including his Antarctica Collection. A exploration of the “last true wilderness” and a commentary on the changing global landscape due to climate change. They’re thought-provoking and captivatingly beautiful.
