Design Board – Budget Friendly Clean & Coastal Laundry Room

This week I did a post about West Elm’s new Market which offers great products for life’s everyday chores. Some of my favourite products were for the laundry room; namely the large rope baskets and cotton laundry bags (you can read all about the West Elm Market in my post or visit their website here). Because I had laundry rooms on the brain, this week’s design board is for a clean and coastal laundry room that won’t break the bank. In this design, the bottom portion of the walls are beadboarded in a crisp white (Benjamin Moore’s Simply White is a favourite of mine) and the upper portion of the walls are painted in an airy coastal blue. There is white closed cabinetry for the lowers and reclaimed wood open shelves for upper storage. A watery glass backsplash continues the coastal feel and adds some sparkle to compliment the glass knobs. The counters are white with a metal edge effect that ties in to the stainless steel finish of the sink and faucet. I had this sink in my old laundry room (which you can check out here) and I loved how it was super deep to accomodate any size bucket. Texture is introduced with various baskets, the woven rug and light drum shade. And, just because I’m a sucker for islands and I’ve always wanted one in my laundry, there’s a island with a charming butcher block countertop to act as a central work area.
