This Saturday, I was driving home after an appointment at the hair salon and spotted this beautiful midcentury armchair perched atop a snowbank at the side of the road.
As you can see from the photo, it’s no longer by the side of the road. I’ve been scouring Kijiji and craigslist for what seems like forever, trying to find a chair with these proportions and shape…it was my lucky day, indeed! My husband may have thought me insane as I giggled manically while hoisting my treasure into the back of the minivan. By the way, he’s not a fan of the minivan – but I remind him in moments like these that chairs don’t fit in the back of his fancy ride – so my van gets points for usefulness, right?
And now to figure out how to bring this chair back to it’s former glory. I’ll be refinishing the wood myself, but would like to have it professionally reupholstered. This chair is beyond the scope of my present abilities and I just don’t have the time to embark on such a big learning curve right now. Here are some of the fabrics I’m considering:

Decisions, decisions… I’d love to hear your reupholstery stories and any ideas/advice you have on giving this chair a new lease on life.
Wishing everyone a great day.
